Here are answers to some of the most common photography questions. No two couples are the same so every wedding is different. Please call to tell me about your wedding plans and I'll answer any specific questions you have. I'll be happy to provide you with a service that matches your needs exactly.

Where are you based and where do you photograph?

I'm based in Cardiff, Wales but regularly travel further afield. Nothing is too large or too small! If you're planning a wedding abroad please don't hesitate to ask for details. I've photographed weddings large and small from the UK to Australia.

How much do you cost?

Many photographers offer set packages of what THEY think couples want. The trouble with these is that they tend to range in cost from low to high and they force you to accept certain options when in reality, your perfect package would be a mix of several on offer. I don't expect anyone to accept a pre-defined package. Therefore, while my brochure does include example 'packages' these only serve to illustrate typical choices and provide a start point for you to create a tailored service. Any feature I offer can be added or removed to create a service that matches your needs and your budget perfectly. There are absolutely no hidden costs - I photograph continuously while in attendance and wouldn't dream of charging extra if your day is running late! Total fees range from around £1,000 upwards. The same level of preparation and attention to detail is given to every wedding regardless of your budget.

Who will photograph our wedding?

I personally handle every aspect of your wedding photography, from the first meeting to the creation of your hand-made album. I meet with couples at the earliest opportunity to ask about their wedding day and photography expectations. I sometimes work with an assistant on the day but all photography is directed by myself to meet your requirements.

Do you limit the number of photographs you take?

I shoot continuously throughout the period I'm in attendance. The number of photographs I present you with after your wedding is unlimited and has no impact on the cost at all.

Explain a typical wedding project.

A first meeting with you will establish whether I can offer them the kind of photographs you are looking for. If not, I'm happy to recommend another photographer. A second meeting closer to your wedding day allows us to go into more detail and discuss things such as timings, any specific ideas you have such as group photographs. After the wedding, I present you with proof prints and a slide show of all the photographs and from these you choose which ones you would like in your album(s).

What type of albums do you offer?

For me, taking the photographs on your wedding day is just the beginning. From here I involve the couple as much as possible in the design and creation of the albums - it's important that you're given an album that exceeds your expectations in every way, from the presentation of the photographs to the materials used. I can produce albums for every budget, ranging from loose prints presented in a decorative box, to the latest hand-made Art Books, designed individually by myself then printed and bound by Luxury Bound™ in Australia. I have examples of all these types in my studio and are available to view by appointment.

Do you photograph in digital or on film?

I shoot digitally but always carry backup cameras, some of which use film. I stopped using film several years ago. The benefits of digital photography far outweigh film, both for the photographer and the couple. All photos originate in colour, but you can choose to have any printed in black & white or colour toned - sepia and blue are popular choices.

Will you provide us with a CD of our wedding photographs?

After the wedding, you will be given a DVD containing a slide show of every photograph taken. This is yours to keep regardless of the photographs you choose to include in your album. Unlike other photographers who may never show you all your wedding photographs, I believe these are your memories and you have the right to keep them. As well as this DVD you will receive a book of proof prints, and together they will help you choose which photographs you'd like in your album(s). I do not supply photographs on CD, but family members can purchase the DVD slide show containing all your wedding photos as an alternative or in addition to individual prints.

Do you take posed, group shots?

Yes! There is room in every album for a certain number of family groups. However because I specialise in natural, unposed photographs I tend to spend no more than half an hour each wedding on posed groups.

Do you have insurance?

I am fully insured for Public Liability and Professional Indemnity and my cover allows me to work at all venues, including public buildings and National Trust sites. All my weddings are booked using a contract which clearly describes my responsibilities to you.
